URGENT
IN-PERSON COUNCIL MEETING CANCELLED – DEC. 20, 2021 The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) has just informed us that Council meetings must be held remotely, starting Monday, December 20 at 5:00 p.m., for both elected officials and the public, where possible. The terms of By-Law 2020-029 of April 26, 2020 therefore apply. As such, the Municipalité of Ogden will make the recording of this meeting available on the municipal website as soon as possible. Dear fellow citizens My very first official duty as the new mayor was to preside over the Council meeting on Nov 15th. First item on the agenda, a petition signed by 224 citizens demanding a return to the old speed limits that were lowered by the previous administration in October. Only 15 minutes prior to the meeting I was informed that all the road signs to the east of Griffin Rd. were vandalized (at least $ 8,000 worth). As your elected official I strongly condemn these criminal acts. If only the guilty party(ies) had waited another 24 hours they would have realized that a legitimate petition was the only way to proceed. But no, they wanted to make their point by imposing a substantial cost on their fellow citizens. The Road Committee analysed the provenance of the petitioners as well as the numerous comments and concluded that the speeding problem was mainly concentrated on Cedarville Road where traffic has increased substantially over the past few years. Best practices road systems are designed to feed most traffic on to the main arteries (Griffin and Marlington) while keeping secondary feeder routes free of unnecessary obstacles. The Committee has recommended the following: A return to the previous limits except for: - Cedarville Rd. (north end) from Marlington to the entrance to Arnold Rd. at 50 KPH - Arnold Rd. at 60KPH David Lépine, mayor. PS To access all the information in the Chronicles, please see the document below.
