Sherbrooke, May 10, 2023 - The Direction de la gestion de la faune wishes to inform the population that scientific work will be carried out during the week of May 15 for a project aimed at understanding the link between water quality in Lake Memphremagog, the genetics of the brown bullhead and the development of melanoma.

The project is coordinated by the Vermont fish and Wildlife Department in collaboration with the United States Geological Survey, the University of Vermont, and the Eastern Townships Wildlife Management Branch.
 
Sampling in the Quebec portion of the lake will take place during the week of May 15 and will focus on the Fitch, Magog and Sargent Bays of Lake Memphremagog. The capture of specimens will take place during the day but could continue during the evening and night if the targeted numbers are not reached. During this period, it is therefore possible that a boat equipped with powerful headlights be observed on the lake during this work.
