Guide for Separating Residual Waste
COLLECTION SCHEDULE (Print the schedule here)
ACCEPTABLE BINS FOR THE NEW AUTOMATED GARBAGE COLLECTION
We remind all citizens to please put their garbage containers out to the curb after 7 p.m. on the eve of the collection, and to use rigid, sealed containers rather than bags if the garbage is to be left out overnight. To help preserve our rural charm, we ask citizens to please store their garbage and recycling containers away from the road.
CENTRAL COLLECTION SITE
Residents on private roads who are not serviced by the door-to-door collections have the option of subscribing to the central collection site, which is an enclosed, locked area adjacent to the Town Hall where they may dispose of their household garbage, recycling, and organic waste.
The one-time subscription fee of $120 is payable at the Town Hall plus the cost of $50 for the key fob. Any lost key fob can be replaced at the cost of $50.

RESSOURCERIE DES FRONTIÈRES
Contact details : Tel. 1-855-804-1018 (toll-free) or by e-mail at [email protected]
The Municipality has an agreement with the Ressourcerie des Frontières, who does the collection of big garbage and other items directly from your home. The Ressourcerie des Frontières is a social economy enterprise dedicated to the salvage of objects, which are traditionally sent to the landfill site for burial. Salvageable items will be cleaned and repaired and then put up for sale in the Ressourcerie store, while unsalvageable objects will be taken apart and sold to recyclers. The Ressourcerie creates many jobs and diverts over 300 tons of waste per year away from the landfill site, the equivalent of about 30 garbage trucks.
OGDEN MOBILE ECOCENTRE
DATE: 2 times per year (June and September) - dates to be confirmed
LOCATION: Ogden Town Hall, 70 Ogden Road
LOCATION: Ogden Town Hall, 70 Ogden Road
The Mobile Ecocentre is dedicated to the recovery of materials. There will be a truck from Ressourcerie des Frontières to collect recyclable or resale items and materials. There will also be containers for the recovery of wood, metal and for waste that cannot be recovered.
At the site, you will have to deposit your materials in the containers. Volunteers will direct you to the appropriate location.
Composting at home
Being a rural community, the Municipality of Ogden naturally encourages its citizens to compost vegetable matter at home as a way to reduce output of household waste and to enrich both flower beds and vegetable gardens at the same time. Because it does not incur any costs to the Municipality, residential composting is a proven means to stave off garbage tax hikes while making plants happy. The Compost Council of Canada website http://www.compost.org contains a lot of useful information on the subject.
