PERMANENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME POSITION
Building and Environment Inspector
The Municipality of Ogden in the Eastern Townships is located near the US border and on the shores of Lake Memphremagog. Boasting an exceptional natural environment and a very peaceful living environment, Ogden is looking for someone to fill the position of building and environment inspector.
Responsibilities:
Under the authority of the Director General, the building and environment inspector coordinates and performs the following tasks, among others:
• Receive, analyze, and issue all permit or certificate applications arising from municipal regulations;
• Process requests for information on regulations;
• Manage complaints relating to the enforcement of municipal bylaws;
• Conduct inspections within the territory;
• Identify violations and prepare prosecution files when required;
• Write relevant reports and collaborate with partners and professionals working in the territory;
• Ensure proper management of records and files related to the function;
• Oversee urban planning regulations and any necessary amendments;
• Coordinate the urban planning advisory committee and the environmental advisory committee and act as secretary for these committees;
• Oversee the septic tank sludge measurement program;
• Recommend strategic directions to management and council on urban planning and environmental issues in the territory;
• Collaborate with management on the implementation of specific projects.
Requirements and desired profile:
• College diploma in urban planning, architecture, or civil engineering; university degree in urban planning, geography, or environmental studies;
• Practical experience in urban planning, municipal inspection, or a related field relevant to the position and desired profile;
• Good knowledge of municipal laws, bylaws, and policies;
• Valid driver's license (Class 5);
• Bilingualism, English and French;
• Proficiency in the computer tools necessary to perform tasks;
• Be independent, demonstrate very good judgment, and be proactive;
• Promote a customer-focused approach through your actions;
• Demonstrate rigor, discretion, and diplomacy.
Working conditions:
• Permanent position requiring a minimum of 21 hours/week, but may also be increased to 35 hours/week depending on the candidate and their profile;
• Part of the work may be done remotely depending on the season and needs;
• Very competitive compensation and benefits;
• Position available as of February 2026.
